KENT STATE: A REQUIEM

Bill Schroeder
Wesley Graham Reid
William Knox Shroeder was born on July 20th, 1950 in cinicinnati, Ohio. Upon being born, 'Bill' and his family moved to Lorain, Ohio. By age 17, Bill was an Eagle Scout... and he decided to apply for a Reserve Office Training Academy Scholarship; ROTC. Receiving a scholarship from 2 schools, He had the decision to attend both Colorado state of mines and kent state university. Unfortunately for Schroeder, this decision was a fatal one. During the incident of the Kent State shootings, William Knox Schroeder was killed by the national guard... shot in the back with an M1 semi-automatic military rifle, and eventually dying in the hospital. The controversy that surrounds Bill is the fact that he was 328 feet away from the guard, lying on the ground facing the opposite direction. A member of the ROTC and a scholar, was Bill really a threat to the guard?
